The Boson Company, Inc. has been selected as the Construction Manager for the new Everett Roehl - Marshfield Public Library. Construction of the 2-story 35,000 square foot Library is scheduled to begin in 2015. The $7 million dollar project is being funded with a combination of private and public funding. A connecting link to the existing building and a second phase valued at $2 million dollars will renovate the existing Library into a new Community Center to cap off the proposed $9 million dollar project.
The new library will be versatile and dynamic to meet the demands of a changing society in the 21st century such as new technologies, media formats, and electronic resources. The building will house areas for young children, teens, readers, internet users, students of all ages, family history researchers, and patrons who are visually impaired. The connector link to the new Community Center will be a hub that creates a welcoming place to connect with friends, greet visitors or enjoy a cup of coffee. The new Community Center will house expanded activities for seniors, the Aging and Disability Resource Center, the Stierle Bird Collection, meeting and activity space - in a variety of sizes and configurations - for community groups of all ages and sizes and be five times the size of the existing "Senior Center", which will be demolished and converted to additional parking when the facility opens in 2016.
